photographing your wedding

I see wedding photography as a delicate balance; couples want a beautiful, emotional and unique collection of photographs that will always evoke memories of the most important day in their lives. Equally, the day is about two people sharing their love for one another - it shouldn't be a photoshoot. It is important to me that a couple simply enjoys the experience of their day.

Here I've described some of the things I think about when photographing a wedding, and how I work to produce the best images for couples; a minimal impact on their day, but maximum impact in their photographs.

a natural documentary style

I would describe my style as clean, natural and refined. Subtle expressions that are easy to miss, fleeting moments that are unique and beautiful; easily forgotten or overlooked, recording these in photographs makes looking back at your wedding day wonderfully evocative every time.

I believe that the best way to make images that mean something to you is to capture the real you - from authentic special moments you share together to relaxing and having fun with family and friends.

the ceremony

The ceremony is perhaps the most important part of your day, and capturing all of the once-in-a-lifetime moments is essential, because they will never happen again. That's why I work as discretely as possible, to provide you with the most meaningful images, while allowing you and your guests to be fully immersed in the moment, without distractions.

Before the ceremony begins, I'll carefully select my position to capture as much as possible as quietly as possible. To maximise my coverage, I will shoot from multiple positions - but only moving during hymns ensures that all eyes will be on you as you make your vows.

the whole journey

Your wedding day is about more than just the ceremony; the hours beforehand have a significance all of their own.

the little things

A wedding isn't just about the big ceremony; it's all the small details that help to make it perfect. From the invitations to the table decorations, and from the flowers to the rings, everything is carefully chosen to make your day unforgettable. The care that goes into each and every part of your day deserves to be remembered - that's why photographing the details matters.

more than documenting - making art

Usually, I try to keep out of the way and capture moments as they happen, but sometimes the difference between a great photo and a stunning photo is a little bit of direction. My direction is minimal, allowing you and your partner to be yourselves and just soak in the emotion of the day, but I will always strive to make art that you will just love to look at every day; images that you'll want on your wall for everyone to see, and an album that doesn't just document your wedding, but reflects all of the beauty and emotion of the whole experience of getting married.
